St. Louis win is good for Palm Beach!

Last nights baseball game was one that went down in history! Not because records were shattered or made, but simply because it was exciting! I’m a huge baseball fan and I must say that last nights game was one of the most exciting games I have seen in a long time. In case you missed it I will give you a brief run down of the highlights. The two teams battled it out the entire game. It was 1-1 then St. Louis pulled ahead 2-1 which then led Texas to tie it up again 2-2. Texas scored making it 3-2 then St. Louis tied it again 3-3. This pattern continued through the entire game.

In the bottom of the 9th the Cardinals were down 7-5. There was 2 outs and they had one strike left until their season was over. There was two runners on with David Freese at the plate. He hit a fly ball to deep right that bounced off the wall bringing in two runs to tie the game up to 7-7. On to extra innings we go.

Josh Hamilton hit a 2-run HR in the top of the 10th to once again put the Rangers out in front of the Cards. The Cards then tied it up again in the bottom of the 10th on a Berkman single to center.

The Cardinals won in the bottom of the 11th on a walk-off HR by David Freese. Freese was the St. Louis hero in last nights game and may be the big part of them clinching the pennant.

I say all this with so much excitement because the Cardinals are real familiar with Palm Beach. Every March they come down to to  train in the Spring at the beautiful Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida. Every year the economic report on the month of March is outstanding. Thousands of people travel down to South Florida to watch the Cardinals train. Hotels are packed, houses are rented and restaurants are consistently occupied. The Cardinals are not my favorite team, but they are a liking of mine. With that being said I hope they take the pennant home tonight and win the race. Another exciting factor is that the Cardinals made the playoffs by a hair entering as the wild card. They are proving to everyone that the underdog is just a name given so you can prove to everyone else wise.

St. Louis winning in my opinion means great things for the Palm Beaches and South Florida. More people will be inclined to come visit Jupiter to watch the Cardinals which increases ticket sales and causes the visitors to explore the surrounding cities. Jupiter is in a great location with Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, Juno Beach, and Singer Island all minutes away. The month of March will definitely be a good month for our economy down here in Palm Beach County.

Just keep in mind that everything I’m saying will only be relevant if they win the World Series. If they lose I believe there will still be more visitors than previous Spring Training years, but not enough of an increase to show growth.

If the Cardinals win I will be posting pictures of the celebration on the blog tomorrow.

So you’re looking for a place to eat

The Palm Beaches are known as a vacation hot spot. With every vacation hot spot comes the hot places to wine and dine. Palm Beach has many stunning restaurants that you can’t find anywhere else.

The first restaurant that I want to talk to you about is the Prosecco Cafe. This cafe is conveniently located in PGA Commons. It is a European style cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The PBPulse gave it a 5-star rating. Although no one here at the Torrance Team has been there we highly suggest you stop by and try it out as we will do the same when we find the time.

If you look across the street while dining at Prosecco Cafe you will see the new and exciting Chuck Burger Joint. Chuck is one of the newest restaurants to hit Palm Beach but has definitely done its deed in the short amount of time that it has been open. It is not just your plain jane burger joint. The beef is free of hormones and antibiotics and is harvested locally here in Palm Beach. Outside of burgers you can sit down and enjoy an ice cold craft beer or wine, and a one of a kind root beer from Milwaukee. If thats not enough to make your stomach happy then try the Mexican Coke which is a scarcity in itself.

In the same plaza as Prosecco is the eclectic Vic and Angelo’s. Vic and Angelo’s is an Italian Wine Bar that offers homemade pastas, coal-oven pizzas and tapas-style dishes. The price range is mediocre and the dress is business casual. This place is definitely a must stop by if you are in town for a few days.

If you make your way over to Singer Island at some point than be sure to stop by Johnny Longboats which has an array of food items in a South Florida beach atmosphere.

Everyone who comes to Palm Beach visits Downtown West Palm and its infamous Clematis Street.  Clematis Street is the best place to go when looking for the night life. It has bars, restaurants, clubs, shops, and an aesthetic down by the water scenery. All of the restaurants on Clematis are good, but there are a couple that are better than the rest. The first one is Longboards. Longboards is a surfer style atmosphere that has an array of seafood. New to West Palm, Longboards is a great place to take the entire family.

Grease Burger Bar is a burger bar that is located on Clematis Street. They sell excellent burgers and considered the best in all of Palm Beach by some. They also have a good selection of craft beers that will not disappoint.

Whether you are a local or a tourist you will be satisfied after leaving one of these places. The diverse selection in the restaurants will leave you contemplating for more than just a minute to decide where to eat each and every day.
